Essay --

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has a population of nearly 9.2 million people in 2012 (World Bank) and it produces over 48,951,000,000 kWh. (NationMaster.com). It has the world’s sixth largest proven oil reserves and the fifth largest natural gas reserves. However, despite all this, UAE’s methods of generating electricity are going to soon come to an end. There are many ways to generate electricity and they each have their advantages and disadvantages. The major way to generate electricity is probably through fossil fuel plants. However this is not a renewable energy source. There are many other ways that countries use to generate electricity such as Solar energy, wind energy, wave energy, and magnetic energy. In the UAE, natural gas and oil are used to generate electricity. Natural gas is a fossil fuel formed when layers of buried plants and animals are exposed to intense heat and pressure over thousands of years. The energy that the plants and animals originally obtained from the sun is stored in the form of carbon in natural gas. Natural gas is combusted to generate electricity, enabling this stored energy to be transformed into usable power. It is a non-renewable resource and it is running out. The process works by extracting the natural gases from the ground, and then they treat it. The gas is treated at gas plants to remove impurities such as hydrogen sulfide, helium, carbon dioxide, hydrocarbons and moisture. It then gets transported through pipelines from gas plants to power plants. They then use several methods to convert gas to electricity. A more common approach is to burn the gas in a combustion turbine to generate electricity. Oil is another way that the UAE is generating electricity. Oil is found in undergrou... ...ing electricity and do not produce any pollution in the process. It is a reliable energy source. This is because the sun will always rise and set every day, although clouds are unpredictable we can still generate a bit of energy every day. It is also a secure solution and no one will be able to steal it. Economically solar powers help save a lot of money. It also provides job opportunities. It creates two to three times more jobs than using natural gas. There are also some disadvantages of using solar energy. The biggest disadvantage of using solar energy would probably be the fact that the sun doesn’t shine 24 hours a day. When the sun goes down there is no sun and therefore the PV panels will stop producing electricity. This would mean that along with solar panels another energy source must be used to generate electricity when there is no sun light available.

Conviction Offense and Prison Violence

Conviction offense and prison violence The study of the above statement by John Sorensen and mark D. Cunningham reveals that the disciplinary data done in 2003, involving 51,527 inmates who were serving sentences in the department of corrections of Florida and of the 51,527 involved to generate that data, 9,586 were homicide convicts charged on different degrees of homicide. The homicide convicts were amongst those researched on in respect to their involvement in prison violence and misconducts.Previous misconducts related to discipline and other forms of violence reported by the numbers of inmates present at the time of the evaluation which was 14,088 and a class of inmates who are kept under strict and direct supervision, of which they were 4,113 in total, were also considered. The preference and prevalence of violence in prisons reduced as the seriousness of the crime under which the inmate was sentenced increases. The study revealed that close custody inmates were not involved in or have had anything to do with the violence that erupts in the facilities in which they are located. Moreover, some negative regression models used to evaluate this observation shows that â€Å"serious† convicted offenders are less involved in prison violence than their colleagues who have been convicted of way less charges. The â€Å"three strike laws† provides the law courts with the power to impose harsher judgments and more severe punishments if a person is convicted more than three times with the degrees of the charges increasing. The laws however, limit the punishment to life imprisonment. In another study related to this, it was found that correctional facilities experienced more cases of institutional misbehaviors than those facilities that are meant for confinement with no correctional intentions. Actual figures from the study shows that inmates in confinement facilities are less likely to be involved in any form of institutional misconducts than their counter parts in correctional facilities where most cases of these misconducts are reported and on a regular basis. This study can see an increase of officers in this correctional facilities and more tough rules on prison discipline inside correctional facilities. Violent girls or relabeled status offenders? Feld Barry C in his work about whether convicted girls should be addressed as violent girls or should be relabeled as status offenders who in most cases usually refers the offences that minors commit reveals that the government who are the policy makers and the juvenile justice system has expressed their worries about the rising number of young girls being arrester over â€Å"petty† issues.Other interested parties in this issues have seen that the cause of the arrests to be the following; ? Due to the fact that the public is â€Å"tired† of the bad behaviors exhibited by these girls leading to their regular arrests. ? Increased monitoring of home related violence in which t he girls are the most adversely affected group and which can result in behavior change on the part of the girl. Policy change in the juvenile justice system and also the changes in the way parents go about with their parenting of the girl child. The author is for the idea that there should not be institutionalization of these status offenders which is reflected in the policy changing of the juvenile justice and delinquencies prevention act -deinstitutionalization encourages that minor offenders be referred to as delinquents so as to make those institutions where these â€Å"proving difficult to deal with† are confined. The author goes ahead to analyze data on the pattern of arrest and the confinement records for both and girls who are termed to be violent and have been charged following simple and aggravated acts, questioning that the fluctuating figures in number of victims and the rate differences, and the confinement of these violent girls and boys agrees to a different man ner of the increase in girls violence that moves together with the thesis that explains social construction. In a different study but on the same issue of the girl rehabilitation programs, one program named multi-systemic therapy has been a success because it provides a holistic manner where a team from the state or government work together with the parents of the affected girls and in the process tries to change the parent’s behavior. This is usually done where parental activities have been found to be a cause for the girl’s behavior change and therefore influences negatively on the child’s growth and development. The team working with the parents also goes to the extent of going to the schools and evaluating if the child is responding positively to the whole program. The only real problem and hence a constraint of this very effective program is the cost, it’s too expensive and many parents cannot afford it. The study also reveals that non-specific gender programs works more effectively than gender specific programs. However, the study also shows that programs that are gender specific have positive effects in certain areas that include; improved relationship with family members, employment, education and other psychological social outcomes.

William Shakespeare wrote a multitude of plays with complicated love stories, and Hamlet is no exception. Throughout the play, Hamlet is claimed to be many things; a murderer, a madman, and a lovesick fool. In Shakespeares plays, love itself is considered a disease which is why Polonius, Laertes, and Claudius scheme behind his back to battle his madness, among other things. Don’t waste time! Our writers will create an original "Hamlets Mysterious Love" essay for you Create order A subplot in the play of complicated theatrics is the love story of Ophelia and Hamlet. One wonders, did Hamlet truly love Ophelia? Despite Hamlets incessant affirmations that he does not love, trust, or respect her, his genuine feelings for her manifest at his weakest moments. The plot against Hamlets person causes the fundamental rift between Ophelia and Hamlet, leading to the dissimulation of his true sentiments. Claudius, Hamlets hated step-father, devises a plan to do away with him, since he is on the path of exposing him as the killer of Hamlets fathers, enlists Ophelias Father and brother, Polonius and Laertes. Hamlet writes Ophelia a love letter claiming, doubt truth be a liar but never doubt I love He insinuates that even if everything else in her life is untrue, his love never shall be. He tells her to never suspect the veracity of his emotion, despite what others imply. Her Father and brother then go on to warn her that his love is fleeting and to ignore his favor, and she obeys and hands over the letter, betraying Hamlets trust. From this point on, Hamlets feelings are masked and there is a dispute about whether or not they are honest. One instance, when Hamlet knows Polonius is watching he admits, I did love you, and then goes on to conflict hi mself and deny he cares for her and essentially shames her. However, Hamlet knows full well that and words spoken to Ophelia end in the ears of Polonius and eventually Claudius. This knowledge that none of his words are between the two, cloaks his amorous feelings in darkness until her death. Another reason why Hamlets sincere affection is unforthcoming is his conflicted nature throughout the play. The famous beginning quote of his soliloquy, to be, or not to be; that is the question. Hamlet struggles with deciding between not only life and death but also truth and falsity. So many retain nefarious agendas, deceit reigns heavy in his life and he knows not whom to trust; Ophelia, being one of them. The majority of the play Hamlet is trying to convince every one of his insanity, and Ophelia bears the brunt of the verbal cruelty. When Hamlet berates her, knowing Polonius is lurking she reacts thinking, and I, of ladies most deject and wretched, That sucked the honey of his music vows, Now see that noble and most sovereign reason out of time and harsh. In order to carry out his plan, he indirectly shatters Ophelias mind and heart. He may have decided he did not love her but when she drowns, he passionately, I loved Ophelia: forty thousand brothers could not, with all their qu antity of love make up my sum. He is truly heartbroken by her demise, and at the site of her grave, he agrees to duel with her brother Laertes. Hamlet is constantly at odds with himself and others and is indecisive about much. By the finale, he concludes with certainty that he loved Ophelia. All of Shakespeares plays have turbulent romances, and that of Ophelia and Hamlet proves one of the most tempestuous. Throughout a drama filled with duplicity and treachery, it is easy to believe that Hamlets love for Ophelia could not withstand the history of artifice between the two. Taking into consideration his past of death, despair, and possible madness one must realize the feeble position any human would be in. Yet, there is substantial evidence pointing to the fact that in the face of the malevolence, Hamlet continued to love and care for Ophelia until both of their untimely deaths. A love that transcends death, the afterlife, poison, and familial loyalty.
